HOUSTON, TX (April 1st, 2009)– As part of their ongoing effort to meet the rapidly evolving
needs of valve users around the globe, Dresser Consolidated and Dresser Masoneilan
have joined forces to launch an aggressive Operational Excellence initiative.
The sister businesses, both part of Dresser, Inc., will make a multi-million dollar
investment in the program over the next three years, making improvements to
processes throughout both organizations that will ensure they continue to deliver the
products and services customers need while maximizing efficiency.
Dresser Masoneilan is an international leader in the design, manufacture and support of
process control valves and solutions. Dresser Consolidated is a global leader in the
design, manufacture and support of pressure relief valves and solutions.
“To compete in today’s global marketplace, you must create a culture of continuous
improvement and constantly look for new ways to bring greater value to the customer,”
said Steve Lind, vice president of quality and operational excellence. “The Operational
Excellence initiative will be a powerful extension of that culture at Dresser Consolidated
and Dresser Masoneilan.
“It starts with listening to the customer and staying in tune with the market’s changing
needs,” he continued. “That knowledge is the foundation we’ll use to look at processes
throughout our businesses to find new and better ways to meet our customers’ needs
and find opportunities to standardize and streamline processes. That will make us more
efficient and help us control costs, further increasing customer satisfaction.”
Cross-functional teams encompassing sales, project management, engineering,
sourcing, quality, manufacturing, logistics and aftermarket services have been formed.
Projects will target on-time delivery improvement, inventory reduction, cost reduction
and capacity expansion. Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles will be key
components of the program.
“This effort will ensure that, as the world moves through the current economic recession
and emerges into recovery, we have the manufacturing capacity and optimized
resources to meet our customers’ needs,” Lind said.
